From:       Anderton (Trent & Mersey Canal)

To:           Northwich Quay (River Weaver

                Navigation)

HIGHLIGHTS:   Anderton Boat Lift,

                          Frodsham Cut,

                          Weston Point,

                          Devils Garden,

                          Winsford Flash,

                          Northwich.

We’ll have spent a relaxing couple of days in Anderton  since our last guests departed.  Hopefully plugged into Shoreline on one of the Marinas… it does make turn around and cleaning much easier than running the engine for hours on end to do laundry.

After our guests have come aboard about 1.30pm, we’ll pull ropes and hopefully be able to descend the Anderton boat lift and probably tie up on the floating pontoons at the bottom for our first evening together.

Next morning after breakfast, we’ll turn down stream and head off towards Saltersford lock – possible stopping for lunch just after before we continue to Dutton Locks.  Hopefully, lock operating hours will be back to normal (restricted working was introduced during the covid pandemic of 2020)and we’ll be able to tie up for the 2nd night around Devils Garden.

We’ll continue our river cruising downstream the following day and after a lunch stop at Weston Point, head as far as we can before we turn and then retrace our chugs upstream – probably stopping off in Northwich on the floating pontoons near the Cinema if we can.

The next day our plan will be to go upstream through Hunts and Vale locks – perhaps a quick pit stop at the Red Lion pub (if there is room on the moorings) and end the day in the visitor moorings in Winsord.

Our final days cruising will take us back down stream at a leisurely pace,  perhaps stopping on a visitor mooring at Northwich Quay for our final evening together if there is room- from which our guests can explore the town (which is surprisingly nice) before they depart after breakfast the following morning.
