After we’ve had a couple of days rest in Marple to get over the Huddersfield canal and the Marple Locks, we’ve  had a special request to put together a short cruise as a birthday treat.

With this in mind,  we’ve decided to take a peaceful two day sojourn to explore Bugsworth Basin.  Initially we hadn’t planned on detouring but whilst we’re in the area it would seem a shame to miss it so we’re  quite pleased with the request… we don’t take much persuading to go exploring!

We’ll suggest our guests join us around 2pm and we’ll  set off  - hoping to moor somewhere around Disley… just in case we need to top up the larder/drinks cupboard.  The journey will be lock free (which will make a nice change) although there are a few swing bridges along the way that’ll need a shove. .. hopefully our guests will be be up for that so we can put our feet up with a mug of tea (or something stronger)…

We’ll meander our way along the Peak Forest canal taking in the scenery as we go and before heading into Bugsworth basin, may take a detour to Whaley Bridge – perhaps for a pub lunch before setting off and exploring Bugsworth basin by boat.  Depending on light/weather conditions, we might spend a couple of hours here before beginning our return journey.

Having picked a spot on the towpath to moor for our final evening, we’ll retrace our steps (chugs?) towards Marple Junction the following morning and envisage our guests will depart around lunchtime.
