Liverpool to Northwich £960 pp
All being well, we'll have been able to spend a few days in Liverpool since our previous guests departed and the boat will be prepped and ready for our new travelling companions to join us on 24th August.
We'll spend our first evening together moored in the Docks in preparation for an early departure next morning.
Once we've travelled through the Liverpool link and beyond Melling, we'll aim to tie up for the day around Maghull. After a (hopefully) quiet night, next morning after breakfast we'll chugg onwards through Halsall, Scarisbrick, Burscough Bridge and probably moor for the night near Appley Bridge.
Our journey now takes us through the outskirts of Wigan and rather than head up through the 21 locks, we turn right onto the Leigh Branch towards Manchester. Today we'll pass through Scotsman's Flash followed by Pennington Flash before the town of Leigh. Depending on how early we departed, there may be time to stop and take a few photos before we head on to Boothstown where we'll tie up for the day – now on the Bridgewater Canal.
After breakfast, we'll chug onwards through Worsley, the outskirts of Eccles and then cross the Manchester ship canal over the Barton Swing Aqueduct, passing Trafford Park shopping centre and aim to tie up for the day around Stretford.
Lymm will be our next port of call... perhaps giving Ellis's boat builder a wave as we pass by the boat yard.
Our penultimate day will take us through a few tunnels (Preston Brook & Saltersford and Barnton) and we'll end up at the top of the Anderton boat lift . We'll try and moor up here to facilitate a visit to the visitor centre.
We'll spend our final evening together moored in the Rudheath area of Northwich and our guests will depart after breakfast on the 1st September
There is scope to travel longer days and reduce this to a 7 night trip if desired.
