Manchester to Northwich
Bridgewater, Trent & Mersey Canals and River Weaver
Anderton Boat Lift

£1150pp
18th - 25th May 2023 (7 nights)

Fully Booked

This trip will start in Castlefied Basin (bottom of the Rochdale 9) in the centre of Manchester. Deansgate is the nearest train station.

Total distance is 32 miles and 1 lock . There are 1 moveable bridge; 17 small aqueducts or underbridges and 3 tunnels (Preston Brook Tunnel (1239 yards long) ,Saltersford Tunnel (424 yards long) and Barnton Tunnel (572 yards long)) – a total of 1 and a quarter miles underground.

Guests will arrive approximately 1.30pm on day one and after an introductory blah blah (and most probably glass of something fizzy) we’ll chug off to begin our adventure.

The aim will be to make it up as we go along  and should be able to have quite a leisurely trip due to the absence of all but 1 stop lock.

Pubs on route include;  The Wharf, The Waterside, The kings Ransom, The Bridge Inn, The golden Fleece, The Spread Eagle, Ye Olde No 3, The London Bridge Inn and the Stanley Arms.  NB – pub visits are NOT compulsory … just encouraged by Capt. Ellis.

If the weather is kind and river not too frisky, we may have time for a little Segway up to Winsford Flash before returning to Northwich Quays.

At the end of the trip, we’ll have arrived in Northwich and hopefully be tied up at the marina for guests to depart following breakfast on the final morning.
