Skipton to Apperley Bridge

2nd - 5th October 2019

From:   Skipton

           (Leeds and Liverpool Canal)

To:     Apperley Bridge

          (Leeds and Liverpool Canal)

As we’ve been asked to bring cruise 19 forward a week, we’ve cancelled cruise 18 and replaced it with a couple of shorter ones to fill the gap somewhat – with this in mind, cruise 19b is a 3 nighter which will take us from Skipton to Apperley Bridge.

We’ll leave Skipton centre and have a leisurely (and lock free ) chug to the outskirts of Riddlesden/Keighley where we’ll tie up for our first evening on the visitor moorings – not far from the Marquis o f Granby public house.

Next morning, we’ll chug on towards Bingley 5 rise and begin our (assisted )decent of one of the wonders of the waterways.   Once through the 5, we’ll pass through the 3 rise (or fall in our case) and aim to end our day somewhere on the outskirts of Saltaire so our guests can explore the town  before we set sail the following morning.

Our journey will take us through quite pretty scenery as we approach Dobsons locks where we’ll take on water and then descend the staircase  - ( this time unaided), to spend our final night moored in Apperley Bridge – probably opposite the Marina where are guests will depart after breakfast the following morning.
