Westport to Bugsworth Basin
(Trent & Mersey, Macclesfield and Upper Peak forest Canals)

This trip will start at Westport Lake Visitor Moorings on of the Trent and Mersey Canal – Nearest train Station being Longport (Change at Stoke or take a taxi cab).
Total distance is 37 miles, and 13 locks . There are 6 moveable bridges; 19 small aqueducts or underbridges and 1 tunnel (Harecastle Tunnel (2919 yards long
Guests will arrive approximately 1.30pm on day one and after an introductory blah blah (and most probably glass of something fizzy) we’ll chug off to begin our adventure. The aim will be to make it up as we go along but we may be booked to go through Harecastle Tunnel in the afternoon so will need to put a few hours chugging in before we tie up for our first night … Not the end of the world if we don’t make it as we can always join the “turn up and wait” queue the following morning -After that we’ll play things by ear and see where we end up.
Pubs on route include; The Bleeding Wolf, The Travellers Rest, The rising Sun, The Queens Head, The Boars Head, The Ring o Bells and Finally in Bugsworth Basin itself, the Navigation.
NB – pub visits are NOT compulsory (although encouraged by the Capt.)
