Bath Marina to Newbury Visitor Moorings. is a trip of 59 miles and 78 locks

After a few days in Bath, Ellis will begin her journey east towards London.  By now, we  should  (famous last words) have a better idea where decent mooring spots are but at the time of writing this, it’s still unchartered territory for us.  As such, it’ll still be a bit of an adventure and we’ll make things up as we go along.

With that in mind, the entire trip in this direction will very much be an adventure for both crew and guests alike.  Roughly speaking, we’ll need to cover around 4 hours chugging each day in order to reach Newbury  by mid afternoon on our final full day travelling – some days will be longer than others if necessary for water/fuel and refuse stops and we may end up double breasting against other boats.  It’s all part of the fun.

As usual, we’ll expect guests to come aboard around  1.30pm on day 1 and when we’ve  had a glass of something fizzy – (not to forget the introductory blah blah) we’ll  cast off heading east.  The rest will just happen!

Hopefully there’ll be opportunity to visit a few pubs and explore various towns and villages along the way… we’ll pass through/by:  Bathampton, Limpley Stoke, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Devizes, Caen Hill lock flight,  Great Bedwyn, Hungerford,  and finally arrive in Newbury where guests will depart after breakfast on the final morning.
