Newbury Visitor Moorings to Windsor Moorings is a trip of 48 miles and 33 locks.

After a couple of days resting in Newbury, Ellis will be chomping at the bit to head off.  This time after the first few days of retracing steps (well chugs) on the Kennet and Avon, we’ll be heading onto to new waters again -  The River Thames towards London.

Once back on the River Thames heading  east will very much be an adventure for both crew and guests alike.  Roughly speaking, we’ll need to cover around 4 hours chugging each day in order to reach Winndsor  by mid afternoon on our final full day travelling – some days will be longer than others if necessary for water/fuel and refuse stops and we may end up double breasting against other boats.  It’s all part of the fun.

As usual, we’ll expect guests to come aboard around  1.30pm on day 1 and when we’ve  had a glass of something fizzy – (not to forget the introductory blah blah) we’ll  cast off heading east.  The rest will just happen!

Hopefully there’ll be opportunity to visit a few pubs and explore various towns and villages along the way… we’ll pass through/by:   Reading, Wargrave, Henley on Thames, Marlow, Maidenhead and finally Windsor where guests will depart after breakfast on the final morning – Hopefully we’ll have been able to moor at Eton or Windsor Bridge which is just a few mins walk from the train station.
