Rugeley to Stone
Trent & Mersey Canal
£760pp (£1520per charter)
Cruise 20 - 18th to 21st September 2025 (3 nights)
Rugeley Visitor Moorings to Aston Marina (entrance) is a trip of 13 miles and 5 locks.
This is the final leg of the 2025 cruising season. Hopefully an Indian summer will be upon us but Capt. E is making no promises.
The journey from Rugeley to Stone is quite an easy cruise with only 5 locks along the way. That said, we’re not going to rush it… instead just put in a few hours chugging each day to allow for exploration of Little & Great Haywoods – perhaps even a wander into Shugborough hall.
As usual, we’ll expect guests to come aboard around 1.30pm on day 1 and when we’ve had a glass of something fizzy – (not to forget the introductory blah blah) we’ll cast off and continue our journey … alternatively, we may overnight in Rugeley if folks would prefer. This is all very familiar territory for Ellis so we can usually moor somewhere decent with a pub nearby!
Speaking of pubs (well writing) our penultimate night mooring will be at Weston so we can have a libation (and perhaps lazy dinner) in either the Woolpack or the other one – the name of which escapes me at the time of writing… although I do remember they have Lamas/Alpacas in the field behind it!
Our journey can end either at Aston Marina (where Ellis will over-winter) OR up in Stone town near the train station and guests will depart following breakfast on the final morning.
