Oxford to Banbury
(South Oxford Canal)
£715 pp (£1430 per charter)
Trip 21 - 19th to 23rd September 2023 (4 nights)
This is a trip of 27 miles with 16 locks and 18 moveable bridges
We’ll expect our guests to arrive about 1.30pm and after an introductory blah blah (and most probably a glass of something fizzy) we’ll depart and set off on our Northerly journey. Just an hour or so to take us up to Wolvercote – this will give our guests an opportunity to visit the delightful Church.
The next morning (after a simple DIY breakfast), we’ll chug off and make our way towards Kidlington – if the timing works out, we may be able to stop for a lunchtime libation in the ‘The Highwayman Hotel’ as we stop to top up with water.
Moorings are not set in stone and although we might be able to stop for the day in Lower Heyford, if the weather is nice, pressing on might be a better option… we’ll play it by ear (or eye).
Day 3 will see us putting a few more miles under our belts as we chug our way through Somerton and on to Kings Sutton. Once again, nothing is set in stone so there’s always an opportunity to jump off and walk along the towpath to explore.
Our final days chugging will have us arriving in Banbury around lunchtime so guests can explore this pretty little town with it’s numerous pubs . Perhaps a visit to the tourist information centre will help get the best from our afternoon here.
Guests are expected to depart after breakfast on the final morning and ‘Ellis’ will untie and begin her journey back ‘up north’ for the winter.
