Chirk to Chirk (via Llangollen Basin)
Llangollen Canal
Pontycysyllte Aqueduct
£600pp
15th - 18th June (3 nights)
This trip is reserved.
This trip will start from Chirk Bank – probably the Poachers Pocket pub (as they are quite chilled out about a car being left in their car park) … Alternatively, we can start at the Western Entrance to Chirk tunnel for an easy walk from the train station which is a few hundred yards away.
Total distance is 18 miles and 0 locks . There are 4 moveable bridges of which 2 are usually left open; 2 small aqueducts or underbridges and 4 tunnels (Chirk Tunnel (459 yards long) and Whitehouses Tunnel (191 yards long)) – a total of 6 furlongs underground and 4 major aqueducts (Chirk Aqueduct (237 yards long) and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (336 yards long)).

Guests will arrive approximately 1.30pm on day one and after an introductory blah blah (and most probably glass of something fizzy) we’ll chug off to begin our adventure.

We should be able to have a nice leisurely trip and probably spend our first night just before the Ponty what’s it called aqueduct so as to facilitate a walk down to the river for a photo opportunity.

Pubs on route include; Lion Quays Hotel (if we make a detour to turn around)The Poachers Pocket and the Sun Trevor.
NB – pub visits are NOT compulsory … just encouraged by Capt. Ellis.

At the end of the trip, we’ll have been up to Llangollen Basin for our 2nd night and then returned to Chirk , where guests will depart following breakfast on the final morning.
